Blue Buoy’s Swim Classes

No one is too young or too old to learn with Blue Buoy. We welcome all students, no matter their age or their abilities. We help babies become comfortable in the water, assist toddlers with learning the basics, show adults how to overcome their fears, and even help star athletes gear up for their next Olympics. So, what classes can you take? Below are some of the choices you have.

Parent and Me Classes

Looking for a fun activity you can enjoy with your toddler? Our parent and me classes allow you to have fun while also helping your child learn vital skills that will keep him or her safe in the water. These classes are an excellent way for your child to become comfortable with the water while having you close as a source of comfort and strength. In addition to basic swimming skills, we also cover topics related to water safety.

Adult Swim Classes

If you are an adult who does not yet know how to swim, this can be a source of shame. However, we don’t want you to feel badly about not knowing how to swim. Everyone learns in their own time, and we want your time to be now. We believe in the power of “yet.” You do not know how to swim yet, but you will, and we are here to help. We strive to make the learning process fun, removing the pressure that you might feel. Once you become comfortable, you can take more advanced classes to keep developing your skills.

Semi-Private Swim Lessons

A joyful young woman holding a laughing baby while in a swimming pool in Huntington Beach.Semi-private lessons are for two students and one teacher. They are ideal for those who are wanting to move up to the competitive level or who already compete but prefer social interaction to taking private lessons. Keeping these lessons restricted to just two students ensures that each student gets the attention they need, receiving targeted feedback that allows the student to continually grow as a swimmer. We allow you to sign up with another student or allow us to pair you with one we think will be a good fit.

Private Swim Lessons

In some cases, it is best to go solo. Many of our competitive swimmers opt for a combination of semi-private and private swim lessons to get the best of both worlds. Others stick with private lessons because they are competing and need that dedicated attention or because other students distract them too much. Private lessons are fully tailored to the needs and interests of the student.

Stroke Prep Classes

Once your child is confident in the water and knows two stroke techniques, he or she is eligible for this class. This is a group class that lasts for 20 minutes per session, helping children better develop their stroke practices. This leads into the stoke technique classes.

Stroke Technique Classes

These classes are similar to the stroke prep classes. To take this class, the child must be comfortable with all four competitive strokes. These classes are group classes and last for 30 minutes per session.

Blue Buoy Special Events

Hey, life can’t be all work and no play. That is why we embrace fun and games with our special events. We love helping Brea residents celebrate special moments in their lives. Below are just a few that we host.

Pool Parties

We will plan as much of the party as you like, tailoring it to the ages and interests of the kids in attendance. You can choose from indoor and outdoor pools and we have gas grills available for you to use. Our lifeguards are on duty the entire time, making certain everyone is safe as they have fun.

Safer 3 Water Safety Challenge

This event was created by the Swim for Life Program, and we are happy to participate in it. This is a national program designed to make people more aware of how to enjoy the water safely. We also use this as an opportunity for our students to showcase their skills.

Aquachievers Program

Everyone deserves the chance to learn to love the water, but not all swimmers are well served by your typical swim class. That is why we are part of the Aquachievers Program. This program is designed to help children with special needs learn to swim or enjoy the water, tailoring instruction to their needs. We are able to do this through our partnership with the Assistance League of Tustin and the Assisteensgroup, and we are very proud to work with them.

Why Choose Blue Buoy Swim School?

A swimmer mid-stroke in a Huntington Beach pool, with water splashing around. We consider it a privilege to help students discover their love of the water. But just because we love teaching people to swim doesn’t mean we are the swim school for you. So why do we think you should choose us?

Our instruction is always tailored to our students, even in our group classes. We push for continuous growth, focusing on your improvements and not your ability to meet some standard. We also know how to have fun. Yes, demonstrating progress is important, but we think learning is better when you are laughing too. We also only use proven techniques and the best practices in our classes, ensuring that our students receive world-class instruction without needing to travel far.

We also make the learning process comfortable. Young children start out in the small, indoor pool. Older children graduate to the larger, outdoor pool. All pools are kept at an ideal temperature. We want you to feel content as you study with us.
