We currently have permission to open as an essential business for drowning prevention. We are limited to Private or Semi-private with siblings(same household/ must match similar age & level) lessons initially due to distancing guidelines. We’ll also be limited to the number of people in the pool at any given time.

All team members in the water will be wearing clear face shields to protect your child and themselves from coughs and sneezes. While the face shield may be a strange sight to your child, they will be able to see their teacher’s expressions and we will be working to make the shields as fun as possible.

All team members who are not in the water will be wearing face masks.

  • Per CA Dept. of Public Health’s mandate, EVERYONE over age 2 must wear face coverings. If you forget yours we will provide one for you.
  • Children will not be wearing face masks while in the water.

Important Things to Note:

Please have your child wait with you (near the pool they take their lesson in) until the teacher calls for them.

  • We must also suspend play time, open swim, pool parties and swim meets due to our inability to maintain required social distancing guidelines for those activities.
  • Student’s must be ready for lessons (in swim suits), and exit the pool after lesson is done. Wrap and go. Baby changing station will be available if needed. We ask only one family at a time. There will be sanitizing wipes provided.
  • Restrooms are available however, changing stalls and showers in the restrooms will be closed.
  • We ask that you conduct any business via phone or email rather than the pool office. We are also trying to do all transactions via the credit card you have on file so that we are not handling cash.
  • Please bring your own goggles if you want your child to wear them; however, they are not required. Based on new CDC guidelines, Blue Buoy can no longer let children borrow goggles. You can call our office and purchase goggles if you want them and we’ll have the deck manager set some aside for you.
  • We are sad to have to remove our self-serve animal cookies, licorice, coffee & stickers for the time being since we can think of no way to implement a no-touch disbursement system. (We’re open to your suggestions!!)

How can I help keep Blue Buoy safe for me and my family?

We will be posting the following questions outside of the entrance to our facility. EVERYONE must be able to answer “no” to every question before entering. If you are able to answer “yes” to any question we ask you to return home and call to notify us you will be absent. We will be happy to issue a make up which can be scheduled at a later time.

  • Have you been ill with fever, chills, cough or body aches in the last 14 days?
  • Has anyone in your household had these symptoms in the last 14 days?
  • Have you or anyone in your household traveled internationally in the last 14 days?
  • Have you or anyone in your household traveled to a location in the US where an increased incidence of COVID-19 has been reported in the last 14 days?
  • Have you been told by a healthcare provider that you should self-quarantine due to potential COVID-19 exposure or you are suspected of having COVID-19?

Our teachers MUST answer the same questions before their shift every day.

What is Blue Buoy doing to comply with physical distancing?

Three circular icons depicting social distancing, a person wearing a mask, and a swimming pool with a ladder.

We are asking only ONE caregiver per child, if that is possible, to reduce the number of people on deck.

  • If you have more than one child coming to the swim school please keep the children not taking lessons, or who just finished their lesson close by you.
  • We are only offering private lessons in our phase one opening in order to limit the number of people in the facility at a given time. We are taking steps to maintain physical distancing and will have reduced seating with appropriate spacing between family units.
  • Chairs on the pool deck are placed at least 6 ft apart. We ask you wear your mask and be mindful of others while occupying shared spaces.
  • We ask that students arrive only 5 minutes before their scheduled class time to keep occupancy numbers within guidelines and walkways clear

What is Blue Buoy doing to keep the school clean?

Three icons representing hygiene: hand spraying sanitizer, hand using liquid soap, and hand under running water tap.

We have always followed CDC cleaning protocols and those set out by other health professionals and authorities.

  • Sanitizer stations will be available throughout the facility. Sanitizing wipes will also be available at the baby changing table for your convenience to wipe down before and after.
  • The use of pool toys will be scaled back and all toys and equipment will be disinfected between uses.
  • The facility will be disinfected throughout the day. This will include all high traffic areas, door handles, chairs, toilets, etc.

Thank you for working with us to put these best practices in place. We will do our absolute best to create a great environment for you and your family.
